The Eiken photo requirements
30 mm wide by 40 mm tall, upper body, no hat, facing forward, taken within the last six months. A sharp colour photo is the safe choice because it is used to confirm your identity at the interview.
Check which grade and format you are sitting
The photo is for the admission ticket of grades with a second-stage interview. S-CBT and school-venue sittings can differ, so follow the instructions printed on your own paperwork, which may also ask you to write your name and grade on the back.
Same size for children
Primary and junior high school candidates use the same 30 x 40 mm size. Stand the child in front of a plain wall, shoot at their eye level and crop here. Avoid cutting a face out of a group photo — it is usually too small and off-angle.
Frequently asked questions
Can the photo be black and white?
Colour is recommended because the photo is used for identity checks, and a phone photo is in colour anyway.
What if the photo is the wrong size?
A photo that overflows the box, or leaves a wide margin inside it, can be queried on the day. Measure the box on the ticket and pick the matching size here — 30 x 40 mm is standard.
Is a school uniform acceptable?
Yes. There is no dress code; the requirement is a clear, forward-facing view of the face with no hat.
Is the photo uploaded?
No. Everything is processed in the browser, so a child's face photo never goes to a server.
